FDLE and Gadsden County Records
FDLE receives fingerprint arrest data and later disposition reports. Gaps can arise when an arrest was not fingerprinted, identifiers fail to match, or an outcome is late. Positive identification requires fingerprints. People reviewing their own history can use FDLE challenge procedures, while missing outcomes should be traced to the Gadsden Clerk.

Gadsden County Corrections Records
FDC Offender Search separates inmate, released, supervised, and fugitive populations. A profile may show DC number, offense, county, facility, sentence, and supervision data. It is not every arrest. The Florida Commission on Offender Review handles parole and conditional-release decisions, while FDC administers state felony supervision.
The Commission's official site explains its role.

Gadsden County Record Geography
Gadsden County spans 516.38 land square miles west of Tallahassee. Quincy is the records hub, while police departments in Midway, Chattahoochee, Havana, and other cities keep their own incident files. Interstate 10 also creates FHP records. Request an FHP report through the proper state channel even if GCSO handled the booking.
The Census QuickFacts profile reports a July 2025 estimate of 44,298 residents.

Population supplies service context and does not predict individual conduct.
Checking Gadsden County Criminal History
The Gadsden Clerk Public Inquiry is the strongest first stop for a known local prosecution. It separates circuit felonies, county misdemeanors, criminal traffic, and ordinance matters. Search by case number when possible. A name and filing span can work, but spelling variants and shared names make identity checks vital. Read the docket and final disposition for each count instead of treating the first charge as the outcome.
A recent event may not yet have a court case. Contact the arresting agency for its report and GCSO for booking data. A broader Florida check belongs with FDLE. FDC covers state custody or supervision, while the FBI identity-history route serves a person reviewing their own federal record.
- Choose the Clerk for a filed case or the creating agency for an incident report.
- Use a case, citation, incident, or booking number before relying on a name alone.
- Match the court level, dates, and lawful identifiers to the right person.
- Read filed counts, docket events, disposition, and sentence separately.
- Request certified copies only when the purpose requires authentication.
Three Gadsden County Record Timelines
One arrest can create three main timelines. The arresting agency writes its narrative or affidavit. GCSO creates a booking entry if the person enters county custody. The State Attorney may later file different charges, and the Clerk then maintains the court case. Fingerprints and reported outcomes can also reach FDLE. A booking charge is the asserted basis at intake, not a conviction.
Arrest and booking → prosecutor filing → court disposition → FDLE outcome reporting. Timing gaps occur. A new booking may predate a case, while a disposition can take time to match an FDLE arrest cycle. Checking the final judgment prevents the most serious reading error.
Identifiers also change by stage. A city police incident number is not a GCSO booking number, and neither is the Clerk's case number. Save each number with the office that issued it. When a search returns no result, retry a surname with fewer date limits, select the correct CF, MM, CT, or MO case type, and call the Clerk about filing lag or older records. That method is more reliable than broadening the search to unofficial sites.
Florida Official Background Checks
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement runs the state repository. Public CCHInet searches use demographic data, cost $24 plus a $1 card charge, and are not certified. FDLE staff searches cost $24. Published processing is five business days for non-certified results and six to seven business days for certified results, before mail time.
Fingerprint checks reduce common-name ambiguity. Florida uses electronic Livescan providers for authorized checks, and the receiving agency must supply the ORI. For self-review, use FDLE personal review or the subject-only FBI Identity History Summary route. Neither product replaces the Gadsden County judgment.
| Product | Cost | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| FDLE Instant | $24 + $1 | Immediate, name based, non-certified |
| FDLE staff search | $24 | Certified or non-certified by mail |
| FDLE eligibility certificate | $75 | Sealing or expunction petition step |
| FBI identity summary | $18 | Subject's own fingerprint history |
The FDLE Instant Search screen shows the state workflow.

Gadsden County Records in Quincy
Several offices sit near downtown Quincy, but their files remain distinct. The Clerk at 10 East Jefferson Street keeps felony and misdemeanor dockets, judgments, and certified copies. GCSO at 339 East Jefferson Street keeps sheriff reports and booking material. Asking one office for the other's record will not produce a complete result.

Criminal Record Types
Gadsden County criminal records are defined by their creator. A police incident report may exist without an arrest. An arrest affidavit states alleged probable cause. The jail adds intake, bond, hold, and custody data. The Clerk's case file begins after a charge or citation is filed. FDLE compiles supported Florida arrest cycles and reported outcomes.
Warrants arise from courts and service agencies. FDC tracks state custody and supervision. FDLE's offender registry is a specialized disclosure system, not a full criminal history.
- Incident and arrest reports come from the agency that created them.
- Booking records come from GCSO Corrections.
- Court files come from the Gadsden Clerk.
- State histories come from FDLE CJIS.
- Corrections and registry records come from FDC and FDLE systems.
Gadsden County Clerk Search Fields
CourtScribe Public Inquiry is free and showed no login. Search by party name, filing span, citation, case number, or Uniform Case Number parts. Choose CF for felony, MM for misdemeanor, CT for criminal traffic, MO for municipal ordinance, or CO for county ordinance. The year control reaches 1980, but that interface detail does not guarantee every older image is online.
| Field | Use | Caution |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Find a party | Try spelling variants |
| Filed date | Narrow results | Filing may lag arrest |
| Case type | Choose CF, MM, CT, MO, CO | Select the right track |
| Case or citation | Exact match | Agency numbers differ |
Open details, read each count, and ask the Clerk for an image or certified disposition when it is not public online.
Inside a Gadsden County Criminal Record
A careful reading separates identity data from events. Court files can show case number, division, filed counts, docket entries, plea, disposition, and sentence. Booking data adds intake, agency, bond, holds, and release status. FDLE histories organize arrest cycles and matched outcomes. Confidential identifiers, juvenile material, and sealed records may be absent.
| Name & Identifiers | Names, lawful demographics, and agency or court identifiers. |
|---|---|
| Arrest / Booking Data | Date, agency, intake charge, booking number, bond, and holds. |
| Charges & Statutes | Alleged or filed counts and their Florida authority. |
| Disposition | The outcome for each filed count. |
| Sentence | Custody, probation, fines, or conditions in the judgment. |
| Custody / Supervision Status | County jail, FDC prison, release, or supervision status. |
Gadsden County Jail Lookup Fallback
The official GCSO inmate page labels its tool County Jail Roster, but its embed exposed no stable search fields during research. Use Corrections, an in-person visit, or a focused Chapter 119 request to smuralles@sheriff.gadsdencountyfl.gov. Ask for booking number, intake charges, bond, holds, current custody, and release data.
The jail reports capacity of 157 and average population of 190. Those operational figures do not measure guilt or crime. The Department of State lists 850-875-8844 for the jail row, while GCSO publishes 850-627-9233. Confirm which line reaches Corrections.
The FDC Offender Search covers state custody and supervision.

Someone absent there may still be in county jail, released, or outside FDC jurisdiction.
Public Access Laws in Florida
Florida's Constitution and Public Records Law protect inspection of official records, subject to specific exemptions. Section 119.07 governs copies, lawful charges, and exemption citations. FDLE dissemination follows section 943.053. Court files follow Florida Rule 2.420, so Chapter 119 is not the only rule for a Gadsden docket.
Key Statutes:
Florida Statutes §119.07 sets inspection, copying, fee, and exemption duties.
Florida Statutes §943.053 governs state criminal-history dissemination.
Florida Statutes §943.0585 governs judicial expunction.
Gadsden County Warrant Record Chain
No stable public Gadsden warrant-name portal was found. Contact GCSO for sheriff-served warrant information, use its public-records email for a releasable record, and search the Clerk docket for capias or warrant activity. FDLE Wanted Persons Search adds statewide coverage. A blank result never proves no warrant exists.
Someone resolving their own possible warrant should contact the issuing court or Clerk, seek legal advice, confirm the proper appearance site, and verify that any recall has posted. Never send money to an unsolicited caller threatening immediate arrest.
Requesting Gadsden County Sheriff Records
Gadsden County directs every law-enforcement public-record request to GCSO. A useful request identifies the incident, arrest, booking, warrant, 911 or body-camera record; gives a date and location; includes a known agency number; states the desired electronic or inspection format; and asks for an estimate before extensive work begins. Florida law does not ordinarily require a reason or special form. Preserve the response email and every number the custodian supplies because those details help link later booking and court requests.
No fixed GCSO copy schedule was verified. Section 119.07 permits lawful duplication costs and a special-service charge when a request requires extensive staff or technology work. Ask to inspect first if that will answer the question. If an exemption applies to active investigative, juvenile, victim, security, sealed, or expunged content, request the statute and release of the nonexempt remainder. General county records instead go to Public Information at 850-875-8671 or lbradley@gadsdencountyfl.gov.
GCSO warns that email itself becomes a public record and that it does not keep other agencies' reports or Florida crash records. Send a Quincy, Midway, or Chattahoochee police request to that city. Use FLHSMV for a Florida crash report. This routing keeps the request with the legal custodian and reduces delay. It also prevents a sheriff booking response from being mistaken for the city officer's full narrative.
Sealed, Expunged, and Restricted Records
Florida sealing restricts a qualifying record, while expunction directs broader destruction or obliteration subject to statutory exceptions. Neither remedy is automatic for every dismissal. Eligibility can turn on convictions, prior relief, the case outcome, completion of supervision, and disqualifying offenses.
Obtain certified case material from the Gadsden Clerk, seek an FDLE Certificate of Eligibility, then file the petition and supporting papers in court. FDLE reports about 12 weeks for certificate processing and charges a nonrefundable $75. A certificate does not guarantee relief.
- Sealing
- Restricts ordinary public access.
- Expunction
- Requires broader destruction with limited exceptions.
- Certificate
- Confirms eligibility to petition, not approval by a judge.
Gadsden County Criminal Records by City
Quincy, Midway, and Chattahoochee police create their own reports. County bookings route to GCSO and filed cases route to the Clerk. Research found no separate active municipal criminal court for these cities. CourtScribe's MO category handles municipal ordinance cases in the county system.
